Described as “a Romantic pianist with a finely honed, expressive temperament,” pianist Diane Walsh has had a long and multifaceted career, performing her large repertoire on five continents. Trained at Juilliard and Mannes, Diane captured top prizes at the Munich ARD, Salzburg Mozart, Busoni, Concert Artists Guild and William Kapell competitions. She has collaborated with conductors Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Stephen Gunzenhauser, Eliahu Inbal, Seiji Ozawa, Eckart Preu, Ruth Reinhardt, Kevin Rhodes, and David Zinman, and was presented in recital at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Orchestra Hall, Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Dvořák Hall, and St. Petersburg Philharmonia.

She was the onstage pianist in the Broadway production of Moisés Kaufman’s Tony-Award-winning play 33 Variations, starring Jane Fonda, during which Diane gave over 100 performances of Beethoven’s Variations on a Waltz of Diabelli. 

An ardent chamber music partner, she has been a member of the Mannes Trio (winner of the Walter W. Naumburg Award), the Walsh-Drucker-Cooper Trio, and La Fenice quintet, and was guest artist with the Brentano, DaPonte, Fine Arts, Jupiter, Lydian, Mendelssohn, New Zealand and Terra string quartets, and with the Orpheus and St. Luke’s chamber orchestras. She appears regularly at many summer festivals including Marlboro, Santa Fe, Bard, Chesapeake, and Music from Salem, and she was artistic director of the Skaneateles Festival for five seasons.

Diane has made twenty recordings on labels including Naxos, Navona, Bridge, Newport, Sony, Nonesuch, Koch, CRI, Jonathan Digital, and Stereophile. Her most recent disc is a collaboration with cellist Marcy Rosen in works by Barber, Chopin, and Schumann, released in November 2025 by Bridge Records.

Since 2023 she is Artist in Residence at the Portland Conservatory of Music in Maine. She has taught at Mannes, Vassar and Colby colleges, and frequently adjudicates at international competitions such as the Walter W. Naumburg Piano Competition, the Young Concert Artists Auditions,  and the Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition.
